'Divorcing my sister is the best option': Brother cuts contact with older sister after she demands that his wife divorce him, claiming they are not a good match
When I get into serious relationships, it's highly important to be sure that not only do my parents approve of my new romantic partner, but that my sisters approve of him as well. My two sisters are my closest friends, and if they don't get along with the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, it will be a serious blow to the family dynamic.
That being said, that connection is something that both sides have to work on. It's not just the boyfriend who has to make sure that he is approved by the siblings; the siblings also must work for it. If they simply decided whether or not they approve on a whim, it would be a lot harder for me to roll with whatever they decide.
A good sibling would not only put in the work to like their siblings' romantic partners, but they would also recognize when those partners are making them happy, and support the relationship regardless, which is not something that can be said about the sister in the story below. She, extremely vocally, did not approve of her brother's wife, despite how happy she makes him.
